The incumbent is responsible for strategic leadership of the non-sales aspects of the Private Banking Mortgage business including Processing and Operations; Compliance; Closing and Post Closing, Auditing; Servicing; Risk Management (Regulatory and Governance) and other areas. The incumbent will set direction, policies, and guidelines for the group; and will ensure implementation and execution of strategic and annual business plans. The incumbent is an industry expert and the go to person for not only processing/operations areas of the mortgage business but also broader aspects of the business including: regulatory, compliance, client service, internal/external client satisfaction, process improvement, product development, vendor/contract relationships, documentation, appraisal, closing, ongoing servicing, contribution margin (portfolio performance, before corporate allocations), and other areas. Incumbent is responsible for communications with internal/external clients as well as external regulators. Incumbent ensures that all operational and service related activities meet and/or exceed the standards set by industry regulators and will provide focus, consistency and continuity in operational and compliance processes. The successful candidate will oversee the management of significant external vendor relationships including contract review/adherence and new product development and implementation. The incumbent will manage the current $9 billion portfolio and manage originations of approximately $1.5 billion per year. Candidate must stay informed of developing trends in the mortgage origination and servicing business and implement changes in process and procedures as required.
Travel is required. BA/BS degree and 15+ years of experience managing a mortgage division, with preponderance of experience in providing jumbo mortgages nationwide to high net worth individual is required. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the mortgage business, current mortgage rules/regulations/regulatory environment and a solid understanding of the mortgage origination and delivery process required. Demonstrated successful experience in managing the operations group of a national business, expense budgets, and in successfully leading a team of professionals. The qualified candidate must have excellent communication (verbal and written), analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills to support a successful business line. Successful track record of managing a business in a client focused manner; ability to interact effectively with the highest value clients, internal constituencies, and peer group. Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Business/Finance and/or 15+ years of relevant experience required. Position requires excellent communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills in the day-to-day leadership of the business as well as presenting business plans, results, etc., to senior leaders and working with clients. Must be detail-oriented, self-starter, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
