SBH Health System seeks laboratory technologists. The successful candidates will under supervision perform and/or assist in a variety of bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, and parasitology analyses for diagnostic purposes. The incumbents will perform responsibilities related to such testing as collection of specimens, clerical record keeping, preparation of work materials, computer functions and related tasks including quality control and quality improvement activities. Will cultivate, isolate, and identify bacteria and other agents of disease present in body fluids, exudates, wound skin scarpings, or autopsy/surgical specimens including gram stains and reading other stain results in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six months experience as a laboratory technologist working in microbiology and be familiar with most major models of microbiology laboratory equipment. Must possess a current New York State license to practice as a laboratory technologist. ASCP or equivalent certification strongly desired. Must be proficient in the use of computer systems. New grads or candidates with rotational experience are encouraged to apply!!
